Serving the Research Computing needs of the Basic Sciences
As the technical director of research computing for the Basic Science departments, I am developing a database on the research activities and how computer resources and technologies are used here in the Basic Sciences. I would encourage all faculty in the Basic Sciences to contact me so the resulting database is as accurate as possible.
I will also be developing a list of software tools and computing research solutions currently in use in the Basic Sciences. If you would like to submit information to include in this list, please send email to me.
I am also available for consultation to help solve problems, give you information and further contacts to answer basic computing and research computing questions, and to help you incorporate existing and evolving computer technologies into your research.
Finally, I serve as a central advocate for the Basic Sciences to ensure that:
- The computing needs of the Basic Sciences are known by AT/TSS and IST (Central Administration).
- Proposed changes and capabilities in the computing infrastructure at NU are distributed to Basic Science
faculty and staff. See MREN and the Wieboldt Public Computing Facility for current examples.
