Web Search (index) Engine Prototypes
Search the prototype of the Northwestern University Medical School Basic Science Faculty Interest database!
This is only a prototype and does not have all of the information or the search features that will be a
part of the final database.

Microsoft Access and dbWeb Prototype
NOTE: This information has been superceded by the Community of Science Researcher Database!
The database is broken into multiple "tables", with the "Researcher" table, "Researcher Interest" table, and "Publications" table separately
accessible. Currently only the "Researcher" and "Researcher Interest" tables are "populated" (have data).
About the NUMS Faculty Research Interest Database and search engine
The database is still in the planning stage. This database comes out of recommendations by the
Research Council of the Northwestern University Medical School that detail the need for an
easily accessible database of faculty research expertise and related information. Portions of this database
would be made available to the world through a web interface.
The scope of the database was defined based on the results of a
survey
taken of research faculty in the Medical School. The
results are available on-line, and help clarify what should be included
in the database, how the database should be
updated, what the database should be defined to do,
and how much of the database should be made available
to the NU community and to the world.
The web search engine prototype simply parses pre-existing faculty web pages. At present,
the database consists of pages parsed from
the faculty web pages found at the following web sites:
